The adoption of the pointed archGlossary Term in the later C12 encouraged a new and more flexible approach to window design. LancetGlossary Term windows could be used separately if the space was tight, or grouped together in a single composition, with windows either of identical height, or graduated to fill a gableGlossary Term wall.
The pointed archGlossary Term was also used to transform the RomanesqueGlossary Term tradition of decorative arcading, as demonstrated at West Walton, Norfolk.
