Victoria Hall

Victoria Hall [1], the central focus of Sheffield Methodism. It was the subject of a competition held in 1904 in which the winning design was by Waddington, Son & Dunkerley of Manchester. Hale was placed second. Following the break up of his partnership in January 1906, William Angelo Dunkerley died early the following year and Hale took over the job, completed in 1908. The winning design was retained, Hale's work being confined to detail changes, but he revised the tower in a striking manner best described as free neo-BaroqueGlossary Term [2].
